Lake Eucumbene in the beautful Snowy Mountains is located around 40 kilometres from Cooma at its closest point. It sits at an elevation of 1200 metres above sea level making it a pristine alpine lake. The closest town to Lake Eucumbene is Adaminaby. Eucumbene Lake is a man made lake and is a major gated earthfill embankment dam with an overflow ski-jump and bucket spillway with two vertical lift gates across the Eucumbene River in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales.
The lake was created by the damming of the river as part of the Snowy Mountains Scheme.
